MedSpace embeds an AIMMS optimization model in a cloud-based desktop and mobile app so clinicians enter availability and preferences while planners configure rules (day/night, backup, specialty shifts, labor laws, OR capacity). The model produces schedules for months at a time, syncs automatically to staff phones, and supports shift swaps and rapid redeployment (e.g., ICU during COVID). Deployed in hundreds of hospitals across the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, MedSpace cut planning time by about 60% (from ~10 to ≤4 hours), improved efficiency and earned a 9/10 user satisfaction rating.
