Höegh Autoliners Develops A Global Integrated Planning Solution With AIMMS

Höegh Autoliners is a global Ro/Ro vehicle carrier operating about 55 PCTC vessels and making roughly 3,000 port calls a year for automotive and heavy-equipment manufacturers. To preserve fleet flexibility and improve cost-efficiency, the company needed a decision-support solution to simulate and optimize vessel allocation, trade composition and long‑term fleet planning.

Höegh implemented an AIMMS-based Business Planning System, built with partner Ab Ovo, that replaces manual file handovers with a single planning database combining demand forecasts, resources and customer commitments. The system lets planners across 20+ offices run and compare scenarios, quickly add/remove vessels, ports and trades, update forecasts and restructure loops—enabling faster, higher-quality deployment decisions and improved responsiveness to market changes.
