FUJIFILM Cut Loose Thanks to Razor-sharp Planning Tool

FUJIFILM in Tilburg produces coated aluminium offset plates from 7–14 km rolls for magazines, newspapers and packaging. Complex product sizes and print runs made planning difficult and time-consuming, leading to significant cutting loss, excess intermediate stock and a slow, Excel-based planning process that could take about a month per batch.

Working with CQM and the AIMMS low-code platform, FUJIFILM implemented a customized mathematical planning tool that models constraints and optimizes cutting patterns. The new system cut planning time from a month to a week (≈4x faster), reduced cutting loss and intermediate stock, increased net output and improved sustainability.
