Boon Edam Takes MVP Approach to Kickstart its S&OP Process

Royal Boon Edam, a global leader in entry solutions, needed to shift from bespoke production toward a hybrid “made-to-stock” and “assembly-to-order” model, which required a new logistics and S&OP approach. Their existing forecasting relied heavily on assumptions and gut feel, data quality was imperfect, and the company wanted to begin with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to iteratively build a more robust planning process.

Working with ORTEC, Boon Edam implemented an AIMMS-based S&OP app with a three-month planning horizon and monthly Excel uploads from regional teams into a single view of demand, capacity and inventory. The tool uses statistical forecasting to support data-driven decisions, is being linked to SAP to improve data quality, and has given the team clearer insights, improved forecast accuracy, and smoother adoption of the new business model.
