Verizon partnered with AiFi (with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway/IMS) to pilot a 5G-powered autonomous NanoStore at the Indianapolis 500. The challenge was to deliver a futuristic, unattended shopping experience that could be placed anywhere on the stadium grounds to maximize foot traffic and serve large event crowds.
AiFi deployed its portable, computer-vision-enabled NanoStore running over Verizon 5G, enabling flexible placement and seamless autonomous checkout. The store served hundreds of guests, peaked at nearly 200 receipts per hour, and delivered an ROI four times the store’s operating cost in a single day, demonstrating AiFi and Verizon’s ability to scale high-visibility, cashless retail at major events.
