Albert Heijn, the Netherlands’ largest grocery chain owned by Ahold Delhaize, wanted to offer quick, on‑the‑go shopping in a convenient, checkout‑free store format. To meet that challenge they worked with AiFi to pilot a compact, self‑serve Nanostore solution called AH To Go.

AiFi built a 250‑sq‑ft AH To Go using its AI‑powered autonomous platform (on‑device edge processing plus cloud orchestration) to automatically identify items, add them to a virtual cart, and enable a frictionless exit; AiFi also partnered with ING for automatic payment processing so customers show a card, the door opens, the payment is charged and a receipt is sent. The AiFi solution delivers a true checkout‑free experience at scale (AH To Go stores), simplifying transactions and speeding grab‑and‑go purchases.
