A AiDash Case Study
National Grid, a Fortune 500 utility company, needed a better way to manage vegetation along thousands of miles of transmission and distribution lines. Traditional methods like helicopter patrols, drone flights, and manual inspections were costly, time-consuming, and limited in scope, making it difficult to protect customers, maintain reliability, and stay ahead of storm-related disruptions. National Grid turned to AiDash and its satellite-powered vegetation management platform.
AiDash implemented its Intelligent Vegetation Management System (IVMS), using satellite data and AI to provide end-to-end vegetation management planning and execution support. In a Massachusetts trial, AiDash helped National Grid extend its trim cycle from five years to nearly six years, reducing unnecessary trimming work and associated costs. AiDash also identified tree-fall risk hotspots to prioritize hazard tree removal, helping National Grid better target the areas most likely to contribute to outages.
