Hitachi ABB Power Grids Finland rolls out SOX compliant journal entry process

ABB, a global leader in power grids and industrial automation, needed to update its journal entry process at Hitachi ABB Power Grids Finland Oy to meet new SOX-driven rules for segregation of duties and dynamic approval workflows. The rules required workflows that vary by journal type and globally defined value thresholds, had to integrate with SAP, and be live across 30 users in Finland within a strict three‑month deadline. ABB engaged Aico and its Aico Journals product to deliver the solution.

Aico upgraded Aico Journals to provide configurable, rule‑based approval and posting workflows with real‑time SAP connectivity and synced master data. The implementation met the three‑month schedule, brought ABB’s journal process into full SOX compliance, reduced manual work, and increased process visibility for auditors by enabling instant access to approvals, posting logs and supporting documentation. Aico’s delivery ensured tighter controls and faster, audit‑ready journal processing.
