Arup - Customer Case Study

Arup partnered with Ai Build to explore how robotics and artificial intelligence could transform construction through a large-scale 3D printed architectural installation. The challenge was to create an elegant, structurally efficient pavilion that could demonstrate the potential of new digital fabrication methods.

Ai Build delivered the “Daedalus Pavilion,” a 5m x 5m x 4.5m installation made up of 48 3D printed pieces produced with a KUKA industrial robot, NVIDIA GPUs, and biodegradable filament from Formfutura. The project was completed in three weeks using 160 kg of material, and the resulting pavilion was showcased at NVIDIA’s GTC in Amsterdam before being exhibited at Digital Construction Week 2017 and Zaha Hadid Gallery in London.
