Toyota Canada Yard Management System began working with Ahearn & Soper Inc. in 2005 to update its vehicle processing systems and operating procedures for future growth. A new vehicle processing centre needed technology that could support a new building and a shift from batch processing to handling vehicles individually from rail unloading through the yard and processing stages.

Ahearn & Soper Inc. designed and implemented a Yard Management System with wireless technology, RFID tracking, automated printing, parts allocation, and backend integration with Toyota’s mainframe vehicle processing system. The new VPC was fully operational by November 2006, with a second site installed in December 2007, and Toyota said the approach improved operational efficiency, throughput, and service to customers and dealers.
