Wyoming State Forestry reduces pine beetle treatments from 45,000 to 20,000 trees with AgTerra Technologies

The Wyoming State Forestry Division faced a significant challenge combating a widespread Mountain Pine Beetle infestation in the Black Hills region, which threatened the health and sustainability of the forest. To manage this, they needed to coordinate a response involving over twenty partners for integrated treatments. AgTerra Technologies provided a solution using its MapItFast application.

AgTerra's MapItFast enabled survey crews to work offline on mobile devices to accurately map, identify, mark, and count every infested tree. This allowed treatment crews to efficiently find and treat trees. The solution had a major measurable impact: in treated areas, the number of infested trees needing treatment dropped from 45,000 to 20,000 in a single year, and was further reduced to less than 2,000 trees, saving significant time and labor while ensuring a swift response.
