The Scottish Government - Customer Case Study

The Scottish Government faced the challenge of improving the efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of the national beef herd through its £45 million Beef Efficiency Scheme. A key requirement was for all participating farmers to complete and update carbon audits, necessitating a user-friendly and specialized tool to measure greenhouse gas emissions. They chose to work with Agrecalc and its online farm carbon calculator to address this challenge.

Agrecalc provided a resilient and accurate solution, processing carbon calculations for approximately 1,350 beef farms to ensure scheme compliance. The tool enabled farmers to identify emission sources, benchmark their performance, and discover mitigation strategies that also improved profitability. Results were significant, with one highlighted farm achieving a 34% reduction in emissions per kilo of output alongside a 48.5% increase in production, demonstrating the strong link between carbon and financial efficiency gained through using Agrecalc.
