N & C M Henderson, a traditional beef and sheep farm on the Isle of Arran, sought to meet the requirements of the Scottish Government’s Beef Efficiency Scheme and better understand its resource inputs. The challenge was to raise awareness of these inputs and identify areas for improvement that were not immediately obvious, which involved a learning curve in digital agriculture.

Using the Agrecalc software, the farm saw a 4.74% reduction in emissions per kg of farm output and a 4% reduction in emissions per hectare while maintaining production levels, leading to greater operational awareness and the realization that carbon management directly impacts financial efficiency.
