Case Study: AgriSearch reduces farm carbon footprints with Agrecalc

Developing sustainable farming systems with AgriSearch

AgriSearch, a farmer-led ruminant research organisation in Northern Ireland, sought to benchmark greenhouse gas emissions and develop sustainable farming systems. To address this challenge, they selected Agrecalc and its carbon footprint calculator to assess farms within their Beacon Farm Network.

Using the Agrecalc solution, the farms were benchmarked for emissions and carbon sequestration. The results showed an average dairy footprint of 1.29kg CO2e per litre, below the industry average. When sequestration was included, this dropped to 0.87kg. Agrecalc's detailed analysis enabled the creation of bespoke farm plans, which identified mitigation measures that could reduce emissions by up to 10%.
