Cruise Line Improves Business Insight and Employee Efficiency with Intelligent System

Royal Caribbean Cruises, the second-largest cruise line operating 21 ships and sailing to more than 270 destinations, needed to cut costs, increase revenue, and improve employee workflow on its large Oasis-class ships. The line sought a more capable point-of-service system and automation for HACCP food-temperature inspections to replace labor‑intensive paper processes that could take more than five hours per full inspection. To address these challenges it engaged Agilysys, deploying solutions such as Agilysys InfoGenesis POS and the DataMagine document-management system alongside handheld inspection devices.

Agilysys implemented an integrated intelligent system tying hundreds of POS terminals, tablets and digital signs to back-end servers and document management, and enabled handheld temperature‑monitoring and automated HACCP checklists (in partnership with PAR equipment). The deployment (including 325 PAR EverServ POS terminals, 50 tablets and 300+ digital signs) automated alerts, eliminated paper receipts, improved business intelligence, and cut inspection time from five hours to two (a roughly 60% reduction), reduced disputed-charge write‑offs, and streamlined shipboard workflows — benefits the cruise line attributes directly to Agilysys’s solution.
