Semiconductor Maker Automates Generation of Licensing

Lattice Semiconductor, a long-established maker of FPGAs and CPLDs, faced a complex licensing challenge: hundreds of products with up to 125 separately licensable features that relied on three different license generators (one requiring email), an undocumented legacy Oracle system, and a constantly changing product and customer landscape. The company needed an easy way to add and update records, provide a customer self-service portal, and remove any barriers to completing software sales.

Agiloft delivered a License Generation Management solution that supports unlimited features, communicates with multiple generators (including email-based workflows), and integrates with Lattice’s tech support. The browser-based GUI lets trained staff make changes without coding, mass-generate licenses, and automatically email completed files to customers; workflow changes that once took months now take minutes. The result is an extensible, SaaS-based system with customer self-service, automated distribution, and full tracking of current and historical licenses.
