Taking the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham into the cloud

London Borough of Barking and Dagenham worked with Agilisys to address major IT and budget pressures, including a required 25% reduction in IT spending, replacement of end-of-life systems, a smaller building footprint, and support for smarter working. With only seven months to prepare for exiting its main data centre, the council needed a rapid transformation to a cloud-first model using Agilisys’s IaaS and Microsoft 365 services.

Agilisys designed and delivered the migration by rationalising LBBD’s existing estate, upgrading the network, moving more than 230 servers to its IaaS platform, and migrating 3,300 users to Office 365 and a laptop-first managed desktop environment. The result was a 25% reduction in operating costs, a 35% cut in IT support costs, improved end-user satisfaction, stronger business continuity and disaster recovery, and a reduced real estate footprint.
