QLogic achieves 100% uptime feature licensing with Agilis Software

QLogic, a global leader and technology innovator in high-performance networking, needed a secure and automated way to license value-add features on its embedded network adapters and controllers. Their challenge was to implement a system that could operate within a constrained, proprietary firmware environment while ensuring features were only enabled on the intended hardware. They chose to implement the Orion Network Licensing Platform from Agilis Software to protect these features.

Agilis Software provided a solution where QLogic adapted the Orion client library for its embedded system. The solution uses a fully automated, disconnected-mode activation process. A user purchases an upgrade, and an encrypted activation file is generated by Agilis's Orion Server and delivered via email. This file is transferred to the adapter, where the Orion client decrypts it at runtime to enable the purchased features securely. The results were highly successful, with the process being transparent to users. The hosted Orion Server demonstrated 100% uptime over a three-month period, providing a secure and reliable automated licensing solution that integrated smoothly into QLogic's back-office systems.
