Agilence worked with a leading grocery chain that wanted to better understand what was happening across its deli counters. The grocer was losing revenue from underweight deli orders, and by using Agilence’s data analytics platform it was able to isolate transactions where item weights fell just below full-pound and two-pound thresholds.

With Agilence, the retailer analyzed deli sales by category and identified the financial impact of these small weight shortfalls across 120+ stores. The analysis showed about $2,400 in lost weekly revenue for 1-lb orders and $2,600 for 2-lb orders, adding up to nearly $6,000 per week and roughly $312,000 in annualized lost revenue. Armed with these findings, the team could address the issue with deli managers and improve profitability while maintaining customer satisfaction.
