The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) set out to modernize fleet management for its more than 11,000 vehicles and pieces of equipment to improve data collection, reporting and asset lifecycle management. Key challenges included the project’s broad scope, integration with third‑party systems, and the need to train staff across 12 highway districts.

KYTC partnered with AgileAssets to deploy Fleet & Equipment Manager integrated with WEX Fleet One, adding preventive maintenance, downtime and utilization tracking, fuel economy reporting, rental-rate calculations, streamlined data entry and national performance measures, plus on-site training. The system improved fleet efficiency, revealed complex repair needs, reduced safety risks and repair costs, captured real downtime and clarified fuel and idling issues — earning KYTC an AXIAM award nomination.
