A Agile Fleet Case Study
Indiana University faced major disruption after trustees outsourced its motor pool, which had included an 82-unit daily rental pool and a larger 468-unit fleet. The private rental agency raised rates, closed the on-campus branch, imposed restrictions (including off-road limits and age minimums), and supplied vehicles unsuited to the remote Geological Field Station in Montana, causing chargebacks, long downtimes, and higher personal-vehicle reimbursements.
The Bloomington Campus Motor Pool repurchased 21 vehicles for the Field Station and—using Agile Fleet’s FleetCommander system—leased 64 vehicles to rebuild the daily rental pool. Agile Fleet’s solution restored customer service, returned rental-day volumes to pre-outsourcing levels, reduced costs significantly, and saved the university thousands of dollars.
