OrbiMed, a healthcare fund management firm, engaged Affirma to implement System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM 2012) to add features including software updates, application distribution and metering, hardware and software inventory, remote control, and OS deployment across its environment.

Affirma deployed SCCM 2012 with a primary site server and four distribution points for remote offices, created departmental collections, and automated patching to run every Tuesday with staged test-machine rollouts. Affirma also built custom applications (including a Configuration Manager console) and tested and deployed Windows 8; the project resulted in all back and current updates being applied, successful complex application deployments with prerequisites handled, and an automated, staged patching process that reduced deployment risk and ensured timely updates.
