CheapAir, an independent travel retailer focused on making airline tickets easy and affordable, faced a common industry problem: customers delaying purchases because flights must be paid upfront and prices often rise as departure approaches. To convert hesitant buyers and offer a modern credit alternative, CheapAir partnered with Affirm to add simple monthly payments to its checkout.
By integrating Affirm’s pay-over-time financing (including promotional 0% APR offers) CheapAir encouraged earlier purchases and higher spend: Affirm drove a 54% increase in average order value, 48% of loans were taken by millennials, 65% went to customers still building credit, and 52% of Affirm checkouts occurred on mobile. Affirm’s flexible, no–booking-date-restriction solution also powered targeted email and seasonal campaigns that lifted engagement and sales.
