Peppy Pals develops award-winning educational apps for children ages 2–8 that teach social and emotional intelligence through storytelling rather than text or language. The company wanted a way to help kids practice recognizing and expressing emotions in a fun, inclusive format that could support all children, including those with special needs.

Affectiva provided its emotion recognition technology for a feature that lets kids imitate how the characters are feeling, and Peppy Pals planned to use it in future apps to support teachers, families, and children with special needs. The result is a more engaging emotional learning experience, with the potential to help identify Autism, Asperger’s, and ADHD early on while making the apps more accessible to all children.
