Case Study: Flying Mollusk creates emotionally responsive gameplay with Affectiva

A Affectiva Case Study

Preview of the Flying Mollusk Case Study

Flying Mollusk - Customer Case Study

Flying Mollusk, the game studio behind the psychological thriller Nevermind, wanted to create a more immersive and emotionally responsive experience for players. Using Affectiva’s emotion recognition Unity plug-in, the game could detect facial expressions and signs of stress or distress and adapt gameplay in real time.

Affectiva’s Affdex technology enabled Nevermind to use biofeedback to make the game harder when players were scared or nervous, then ease up once they calmed down. The result was a highly personalized experience that also helped teach real-world stress and anxiety management techniques, while making development easier for Flying Mollusk.
