Lloyd's Register Foundation migrates 3 million assets with Aetopia

Lloyd's Register Foundation, a global charity, needed to modernize the management and preservation of its vast 260-year maritime and engineering heritage collection as part of a wider digital transformation. The challenge involved migrating millions of digital assets, integrating systems, and establishing a scalable platform for future growth. Aetopia implemented its DAMS, configuring it around the Foundation's existing workflows and metadata structures.

Aetopia successfully migrated approximately three million assets into the new system and integrated it with the existing Collections Management System. The results included the ingestion of 3.6 million TIFF images and 1.15 million PDF files, with the capacity to scale for a future ingestion of 35 million microform assets. This established a robust digital preservation strategy and improved access to the globally significant collection for both public users and internal teams.
