Viettel, Vietnam’s largest telecommunications provider, serves customers across 11 countries—including poor and remote areas—by bundling traditional telecom services with utilities and payments. Facing rising device proliferation, growing partner complexity and pressure to lower prices during a difficult economic climate, Viettel needed a future‑proof online charging platform that could deliver personalized, shared and multi‑device billing, run in containers/VMs, and scale for new 5G and IoT services.

Working with Aerospike, Viettel built the vOCS: a converged, cloud‑ready charging system with a high‑performance Aerospike data layer that centralizes data and supports rapid scaling. The platform was delivered in six months, offers sub‑millisecond read/write latency, >60k TPS, 99.999% reliability, and enabled growth from 170M toward 400M users while cutting TCO by ~40%—unlocking personalized family plans, mobile payments, utility billing and tolling at scale and improving customer experience.
