A Aerospike Case Study
SiteScout is a self‑serve media‑buying platform that powers real‑time bidding (RTB) for thousands of advertisers across major ad exchanges, handling massive volumes of cookie matches and user profiles. Faced with strict requirements for sub‑millisecond latency, high availability, multi‑core scalability and multi‑data‑center replication—and after an earlier NoSQL solution proved inadequate—SiteScout needed a database that could meet the heavy, real‑time demands of a DSP.
SiteScout migrated to the Aerospike real‑time NoSQL key‑value store, deploying clusters in three data centers with cross‑data‑center replication and a hybrid RAM+flash architecture, using protobuf compression and Aerospike’s TTL evictor to optimize storage. The result: average 1‑millisecond response times while managing roughly 12 billion ad impressions per day, more efficient resource use, closer geographic reach to consumers, and reliable business continuity.
