Case Study: InMobi achieves internet-scale, low-latency real-time mobile advertising with Aerospike

A Aerospike Case Study

Preview of the InMobi Case Study

How InMobi took the lead in Mobile Ad Tech

InMobi began as mKhoj, a search-based mobile startup founded by Mohit Saxena that quickly pivoted into mobile advertising when the team realized the market opportunity outgrew their original product. Their early infrastructure was built for about 100K requests per day but was overwhelmed almost immediately, revealing a need to support internet-scale traffic, sub-20ms processing latency for each ad decision, and massive real-time throughput without sacrificing reliability.

To meet that challenge they refactored the stack, deployed across data centers on four continents, and adopted Aerospike for its low-latency, high-throughput capabilities. Today InMobi handles up to 125K requests per second, generates ~50 TB of data daily on a petabyte-scale active cluster (with volumes expected to triple), has become a leading independent mobile ad network, and contributes technologies like the Falcon data-lifecycle tool back to the open-source community.
