A Aerospike Case Study
Playtika, a global gaming company with millions of players and dozens of studios, faced scaling and reliability problems from using different NoSQL solutions across studios. The incumbent architecture couldn’t meet throughput targets (150k reads / 50k writes) and required multiple unevenly utilized clusters per studio; its SSD-unfriendly rebalancing also caused frequent disk failures and high operational overhead.
Playtika phased one studio onto Aerospike, refactoring the data model to key–value, adding compression and moving some workloads in-memory. The switch reduced the server footprint 6x (200 → 30), tripled throughput (200k → 600k TPS), enabled 70% data growth per studio, simplified clusters (from six to one) and cut nodes per cluster, delivering a projected $1.4–4.2M in three‑year TCO savings and far lower operational effort.
