Contextin, a New York–based online advertising company, deploys an automated discovery engine that analyzes hundreds of granular attributes per impression to dynamically price and buy ad placements. To deliver more relevant bids in real time — making over 10 billion pricing decisions per day — the company needed a web-scale, low-latency database that could provide millisecond response times and 100% availability across multiple data centers.
Contextin ran a proof of concept and deployed the Aerospike NoSQL key-value store with cross-data-center replication across four locations. The system delivers sub-5 millisecond read/write times, reliably handles roughly 100,000 queries per second per server, powers over 10 billion daily pricing decisions, enables real-time synchronization and high availability, and significantly reduced IT overhead so a single administrator can manage the deployment.
