Contextin Powers 10 Billion Real-Time Pricing Decisions Per Day Using the Aerospike NoSQL Database and Key-Value Store

Contextin is a performance advertising platform that uses an automated discovery engine to analyze hundreds of granular attributes on an impression-by-impression basis and make real-time bidding (RTB) pricing decisions. To score and buy the best placements it needed real-time access to massive proprietary data and the ability to handle extremely high throughput (200K–300K queries/sec) with millisecond response times—requirements that most NoSQL databases Contextin evaluated could not reliably meet.

After a proof of concept, Contextin deployed the Aerospike NoSQL database, achieving sub-millisecond to ~5 ms read/write latency, horizontal scale (about 100K QPS per server), cross–data-center replication across four sites, and full production rollout in under two months. The Aerospike solution now powers more than 10 billion pricing decisions per day, provides near-100% availability, simplifies operations (managed by one administrator), and delivers responsive technical support.
