A Aerospike Case Study
A large American brokerage and banking firm serving more than 10 million customers faced critical scalability and reliability problems: its RDBMS plus a RAM-based cache could not handle peak trading workloads (hundreds of millions of positions and transactions and millions of intraday updates), causing frequent overloads, hour-long restarts, data-loss risk and blocking the rollout of new mobile services.
The bank replaced the RAM cache with Aerospike’s flash‑optimized NoSQL database as the intraday system of record, keeping DB2 as the compliance book of record. The new architecture cut the server footprint from 150 to 10, delivered sub‑millisecond latency and up to 1M TPS, improved capacity and availability (with XDR replication), reduced TCO by ~90%, eliminated data loss and enabled rapid, scalable delivery of customer-facing applications.
