Ohio State University seals 19 ventilation shafts in less than two weeks with Aeroseal

Ohio State University faced a significant challenge when its new William Hall dormitory failed crucial pressure tests for its 19 ventilation shafts, putting its fire code compliance and LEED Silver certification at risk. Traditional sealing methods would have required extensive demolition, adding weeks and hundreds of thousands of dollars to the project. The university called on vendor Aeroseal and its duct sealing technology for a solution.

Aeroseal implemented its solution, which seals ducts from the inside without requiring demolition. This allowed all 19 shafts to be sealed in less than two weeks, enabling the building to pass inspection and open on schedule. The project was completed on budget, saving the university from major additional costs and ensuring the dormitory met its energy efficiency goals.
