Jaycee Place Apartments, a 138-unit affordable housing property in Lowell, MA, faced significant challenges with its 50-year-old central exhaust ventilation system. The system suffered from severe duct leakage and imbalance, leading to poor indoor air quality, resident discomfort, high energy costs, and non-compliance with modern building codes. The property owner, Silver Street Development Corporation, partnered with Aeroseal to find a cost-effective and minimally disruptive solution.

Aeroseal implemented its patented automated duct-sealing technology, which sealed leaks from inside the ducts without requiring demolition or resident displacement. The project also included installing self-balancing dampers, repairing fan curbs, and replacing outdated fans. The results were an 89% reduction in total duct leakage, $58,600 in annual energy savings, and full code compliance. The project also qualified for a $102,000 utility incentive, improving the return on investment.
