Cambridge Housing Authority cuts duct leakage 95% with Aeroseal

The Cambridge Housing Authority faced a significant challenge in achieving LEED certification for a new five-story building because its ductwork had excessive leakage, measuring over 900 CFM. This high leakage rate was far above the required 250 CFM maximum, putting thousands of dollars in federal rebates at risk. After traditional manual sealing methods failed, they turned to vendor Aeroseal and its duct sealing technology.

Aeroseal implemented its computer-controlled duct sealing process, which uses an aerosolized sealant to find and seal leaks from inside the ducts. The entire project was completed in just two days. The results were dramatic, reducing the average duct leakage to 40 CFM, a 95% improvement that easily met LEED requirements. The Cambridge Housing Authority was extremely pleased with the outcome and is considering future projects with Aeroseal.
