Smart Cloud Technology for Sustainable Real Estate Funds

BNP Paribas Real Estate Investment Management (BNP Paribas REIM), a leading European real estate investment manager, faced the challenge of enhancing the sustainability and future viability of its extensive, diverse portfolio. The multi-layered stakeholder structure and the need for retrofits in many buildings added complexity. To address this and meet regulatory requirements like GEG §71a, the company partnered with aedifion to implement its smart cloud technology platform.

aedifion’s AI-driven solution provided autonomous, demand-based system control that integrated external data like weather forecasts. The implementation, which included plug-and-play connections and necessary retrofits, achieved significant portfolio-wide savings. In a pilot project, aedifion helped save 117 tons of CO2 annually. These excellent results led BNP Paribas REIM to rollout the aedifion platform across its entire portfolio, ensuring compliance and creating a comprehensive database for future decarbonization.
