Viasat sees instant growth with a flexible payments approach

Viasat, a global leader in high‑speed satellite broadband and secure communications, faced the challenge of simplifying a complex payments infrastructure while scaling into new countries and verticals. The COVID‑19 pandemic accelerated the need for flexible, consumer‑friendly payment options to support direct‑to‑consumer growth, rapid volume changes across business lines, and expanding merchant requirements for airline and residential customers.

Viasat implemented Adyen for Platforms to provide a single, scalable payments solution with broad local and wallet payment support and the flexibility to operate as merchant of record or support marketplace models. The change improved the customer checkout experience (adding PayPal, Apple Pay and soon Google Pay), lifted authorization rates by about 3%, doubled app adoption, increased new ecommerce orders tenfold, and positioned Viasat to expand into hundreds of countries with the upcoming ViaSat‑3 rollout.
