Case Study: mobilityX achieves unified payments and a data-driven commuter experience with Adyen

A Adyen Case Study

Preview of the mobilityX Case Study

How Singapore’s Mobility as a Service (MaaS) startup mobilityX is set to change the way people travel and commute in Singapore, and in more cities around the world

mobilityX is a Singaporean MaaS startup, seed-funded by SMRT and test‑bedded since 2017, that set out to make travel more consumer‑centric by connecting public transport, ride‑hailing, car‑sharing and first/last‑mile options. The company faced a fragmented ecosystem where different modes used separate apps and payment systems, making multimodal trip planning and payment inconvenient for users.

mobilityX built a single digital platform with integrated payments and layered data analytics (in partnership with Adyen) to simplify booking and reveal usage patterns. Testbeds at NTU and industrial parks showed practical benefits—e‑scooters outperformed bikes on hilly terrain and saw late‑night spikes tied to shuttle schedules—leading to smoother payments, better trip planning, improved commuter experience and actionable insights to optimize services and scale to more cities.
