Freelancer.com, a global freelance marketplace operating in 247 countries, regions, and territories, needed a way to improve cross-border payment collection, freelancer onboarding, and payout processes as COVID-19 drove higher demand. Adyen provided Freelancer.com with its global payment platform, local acquiring in Australia and Europe, and support for major card schemes and local payment methods. With Adyen, Freelancer.com reduced transaction fees, improved authorization rates, cut chargebacks that had previously cost about 0.5% of annual transaction volume, and enabled 7% of users to adopt local payment methods like Alipay, UnionPay, and WeChat Pay. Adyen also helped Freelancer.com quickly deploy 3DS 2.0 for PSD2 compliance and streamline fraud and risk management.
