Cambridge Satchel Company - Customer Case Study

The Cambridge Satchel Company, a British maker of handmade leather satchels founded in 2008, was scaling rapidly and needed a payment and commerce solution to support international growth while delivering a unified customer experience across online, in-store and mobile channels. With two new stores and Black Friday approaching, the company faced a four-week deadline to integrate payments, lacked additional tills, and prioritized support for local payment methods—especially in China.

Cambridge Satchel partnered with Adyen (and FiveRun) to deploy a single omni‑channel payments platform, a Demandware plugin and mobile POS “endless aisle” capability so stores could sell out‑of‑stock items. The rollout went live in time for Black Friday, driving a 124% sales increase; Alipay adoption shortly after launch generated nearly twice the transactions of other methods, and within three months authorization rates rose 15% and payment‑page conversion improved 5%, enabling faster global expansion.
