Bradford Council, one of the UK’s largest districts by population, needed to cut costs while still serving residents effectively. Faced with workforce reductions and a culture where underperformance and difficult conversations were sometimes avoided, the Council wanted to build managers’ confidence and improve performance management across the organisation. AdviserPlus analysed two years of management information to build the case for change, then delivered a tailored three-stage programme of pre-course eLearning, face-to-face workshops, and proactive follow-up calls, alongside mental health awareness resources. The impact was significant: disciplinary case duration was reduced by 66%, grievance case duration by 60%, open performance cases fell after training, and fewer short-term absence cases progressed to formal action.
