Bradford Council, one of the UK’s largest districts by population, needed to cut costs while still serving residents effectively. Faced with workforce reductions and a culture where underperformance and difficult conversations were sometimes avoided, the Council wanted to build managers’ confidence and improve performance management across the organisation. AdviserPlus supported this effort with data-led insight and management development.
AdviserPlus analysed two years of management information to build the case for change, then delivered a tailored three-stage programme of pre-course eLearning, face-to-face workshops, and proactive follow-up calls, alongside mental health awareness resources. The impact was significant: disciplinary case duration was reduced by 66%, grievance case duration by 60%, open performance cases fell after training, and fewer short-term absence cases progressed to formal action.
