The Ports of Los Angeles needed a way to reduce truck-related air pollution as part of the Clean Air Action Plan, especially across the busy LA/Long Beach port complex. Advent Intermodal Solutions outfitted more than 20,000 trucks with RFID tags, linked live reader data with terminal gate transactions, and automated clean-truck fee validation and invoicing. The result was a 70% reduction in port truck emissions after the first year, and more than 80% by full implementation in 2012, with nearly all drayage trucks serving the ports upgraded to 2007 or newer models.
