PierPASS, the not-for-profit company behind the OffPeak program at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, needed a better way to manage a port-wide congestion-reduction initiative and its complex EDI exchanges with 13 marine terminals. After an initial toll-collection-focused system proved too limited for the program’s operational requirements, PierPASS turned to Advent Intermodal Solutions and its eModal/Port Community System expertise.

Advent Intermodal Solutions implemented a replacement operations and systems platform integrated to eModal, bringing deep knowledge of terminal and shipping workflows to support the OffPeak program. The result has been a major reduction in congestion and emissions, with OffPeak handling about 55% of all container traffic at the two ports and more than 23 million truck transactions annually, while shifting cargo movement to nights and weekends and improving turn times and delivery reliability.
