A Advarra Case Study
The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, the state’s only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center with over $130 million in research funding, needed a more efficient way to collect, curate, and report research data for its Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) renewal. Prior to adopting Advarra’s Research Evaluation System (EVAL), data lived in disjointed spreadsheets across multiple staff, making tasks like formatting Data Table 2 slow, error-prone, and labor intensive during the renewal process.
Advarra implemented EVAL to centralize curation, create a single source of truth, automate reporting and formatting for CCSG requirements, and reduce manual aggregation work. Using Advarra’s EVAL, UW Carbone improved data integrity, cut curation time for publications and grants, and streamlined reporting workflows—contributing to a unanimous “Outstanding” grade on their CCSG renewal and enabling ongoing use of EVAL across the five-year CCSG lifecycle.
