How The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center Uses EVAL to Streamline Workflows for Showing Research ROI

Case Western Reserve University’s Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (Case CCC) faced a resource-intensive challenge: decentralized data across the university, hospitals, and systems made it difficult to collect and report the grants, publications, investigators, and other items required for NCI CCSG renewal and to demonstrate research ROI. To address this, they participated in a collaborative project with Advarra and implemented Advarra’s Research Evaluation System (EVAL).

Advarra’s EVAL standardized data storage and reporting (including CCSG Data Table 2) and connected disparate information for easy analysis. Implemented in December 2016, the solution cut the time one staff member spent preparing publication data from 75% to 10%, increased confidence in data accuracy, enabled tracking of pilot outcomes (publications and follow-on grants), and streamlined workflows to better demonstrate research ROI.
