A Advantech Case Study
Equipment Manufacturing Company, a Suzhou-based maker of non-standard automation equipment for major 3C clients, needed to add device-status monitoring and predictive maintenance to its machines but found wired data acquisition too costly, slow to install, and impractical across varied factory layouts. To overcome these challenges, the company turned to Advantech’s WISE wireless data collection solution for a compact, Wi‑Fi based alternative.
Advantech deployed WISE-4050 IoT data modules on machines, a WISE-5121 industrial Wi‑Fi base station, and an UNO-2184G embedded industrial PC to collect, pre-process, and forward equipment data into MES/ERP systems and real-time displays. Advantech’s automatic retransmission, noise filtering, PoE-capable access point, and compact modules cut wiring complexity and installation time, enabled reliable remote monitoring and predictive maintenance, and supported rapid rollout — Advantech sold dozens of WISE units in under six months, and the Equipment Manufacturing Company is expanding the solution to additional machines.
