Waste Management Solution Enables Accurate Real-Time Data Reports in Lima, Peru

SGF, a Peru-based fleet management systems supplier founded in 1988, was engaged to modernize Lima’s municipal garbage truck operations and needed an in-vehicle solution to monitor vehicle movements, diagnostics, and driver behavior to meet safety and reporting requirements. After evaluating options, SGF partnered with Advantech and selected the TREK-723 mobile data terminal for its GPS, WWAN connectivity and ruggedized, customizable in-vehicle computing capabilities.

Advantech’s TREK-723 MDT, integrated with an SGF-designed CAN-bus reading module, provided real-time location, vehicle diagnostics, driver-behavior logging, tire-pressure alerts and accurate fuel/route calculations while optimizing network costs through intelligent communications. The deployment enabled live fleet and driver monitoring, reduced maintenance and fuel-related expenses, and delivered instant, accurate reports to city regulators—allowing the subcontractor to improve service quality, accountability and operational efficiency.
