SQRAM Provides Extreme Ruggedized Solution for Aircraft

Airbus needed a rugged, moisture-resistant memory solution for flight instrument panels that would operate safely 24/7 in mission-critical aerospace environments exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, shock and vibration. Advantech provided its industrial-grade SQR-SD3M SQRAM SODIMM 1.35V low-voltage DDR3 8GB modules to address these requirements.

Advantech implemented wide-temperature ICs and a 30 μm PCB, applied conformal coating and under-fill epoxy, and locked EEPROM settings; the modules underwent severe testing including thermal shock (-40°C to 85°C for 12 hours), humidity chambers, and 100% burn-in and vibration tests. As a result, Advantech delivered a highly reliable, ruggedized DRAM solution that met Airbus’s mission-critical demands, ensuring continuous operation, improved moisture and vibration resistance, and protection against system noise.
