A Advantech Case Study

Preview of the Japanese Auto Parts Manufacturing Company Case Study

Simple Process Visualization Solutions for Automotive Production Lines

Japanese Auto Parts Manufacturing Company, a parts supplier to major automotive brands, was unable to efficiently collect and visualize data from its FANUC CNC machines—metrics like power and air consumption and grinding wheel wear—and lacked the in-house time and expertise to build an effective system. They engaged Advantech, using WebAccess/CNC along with supporting hardware (UNO-2483G, EKI-5528I, ADAM-4000 I/O modules and FPM-7151W) to centralize data acquisition and process visualization.

Advantech delivered an end-to-end WebAccess/CNC solution that integrated CNC and I/O monitoring, real-time spindle-load monitoring for grinding wheel wear analysis, CNC alarms and preventive-maintenance interfaces, and mobile dashboard access. The implementation produced single-package data integration, reduced engineering time, increased dashboard visibility across the shop floor, improved preventive maintenance to help prevent downtime, and enabled real-time monitoring and analysis of key production metrics.
